Faux-Tortoise Shell Hair Comb Victorian
|
|
Back |
Victorian faux tortoise shell comb was very popular in the
early-to-mid 19th century. The advantage of both the tortoise shell and horn was
that they could be made soft and moldable by heat. As they cooled, they
would harden and retain their shape. This lovely faux-tortoise
shell antique comb measures 4-1/2" in length and 3-1/2" in width. What a rare
and wonderful piece of
history, with a Pat. March 19 1895. |
