Gutta-percha is a hard rubber material made from the sap of a Malayan tree. It is black or brownish-black in color, and was
popular as mourning jewelry during the Victorian period. This beautiful antique pin has elaborately carved edges and a splendidly decorated top featuring a rose.
It has the tell-tale "C" clasp and measures 1-1/4
inches in width and 3/4 inch in height. This is a small treasure in wonderful condition;
and is more than 150 years old.
