Antique Celluloid Lion Brooch |
| Back |
Celluloid was one of the first plastics, and it has the color and texture of ivory. It was popular during the late 1890s. However, less flammable plastics soon became more popular.
The way this brooch is crafted gives the stunning impression that a lion is bursting through the facade. The lion extends beyond the pin by 1/4 inch, and is intricately detailed. The pin is diamond-shaped with scroll work along the edges. It measures 3
inches in width and 2 inches in height. It has a "C" clasp on the back. This is truly a great antique brooch. |
