| Back | This is a serious piece of Pietra Dura Jewelry and Mourning Jewelry Doublet Antique Pin for the collector of truly fine things. The workmanship is outstanding; the condition is excellent. This long, vertically oval brooch is cameo mounted. It is set in engraved 14k roll gold with a 14k gold "C" clasp, and the brooch swivels around to the other side, which is backed by glass. It has the hair of a loved one, artfully woven. The brooch measures 2" in width and is 1-3/4" long. It has a 14k rose gold safety chain attached and could also be worn as a necklace. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. "Pietra dura" means hard stone. This type of Mosaic was produced in Florence during the Renaissance. It must be stressed that this is a very rare and precious piece of Pietra Dura jewelry. |
